South Carolina Bars Sued for Serving Driver Who Killed Two Teens

In late December of 2024, it was reported that several bars in South Carolina were being sued for serving a drunk driver who later killed two teens. This driver was traveling at about 100 miles per hour with a BAC level three times the legal limit when she crashed into the teens’ vehicle. The families of the victims claim that the bars should not have allowed her to drive under the influence. At least one of these bars is now up for sale, implying that the lawsuit could be financially ruinous for the owners.

The victim in this case was a 90-year-old man who died in a golf cart crash on the premises. The woman claims that her husband was exposed to Legionella bacteria. The man subsequently developed pneumonia and died despite receiving medical attention. The wife claims that the companies that manufactured and sold the hot tub failed to provide instructions on how to avoid Legionella exposure.
