Olive Garden Shooting in South Carolina Injures Two People

Many South Carolina residents enjoy eating out at various restaurants, and the Olive Garden is a popular choice. With affordable menu options and a family-friendly atmosphere, this restaurant has something to offer for everyone. Unfortunately, South Carolina patrons got more than they bargained for after a recent shooting at an Olive Garden location in Greenville. Can a negligent security lawyer in South Carolina help after an incident like this?
Two Injuries Reported After Shooting at Olive Garden
In March of 2025, authorities in Greenville reported that there had been a shooting at a local Olive Garden location. Police responded to the incident at around 5:30 PM, when the restaurant was packed with hungry guests eating dinner. When they arrived at the scene, they found two individuals with gunshot wounds. These victims were quickly transported to the nearest hospital by first responders.
Medical staff reported that they had stabilized the wounds of a female victim, but the second male victim remained in critical condition after the incident. Witnesses report seeing the shooter flee in a vehicle. They also indicated that the assailant is friends with the male and female victims, and that some kind of argument arose between the three.
About one hour after the attack, police located and arrested the assailant. This individual was then charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. There was no word on whether security staff at Olive Garden had responded to this incident in any way, or whether the restaurant even employed any security professionals.
Defendants Receive Over 30 Years in Prison in Connection to Infamous Mall Shooting
Although this shooting was probably shocking to guests at the Olive Garden location, this incident pales in comparison to the 2022 mass shooting at the Columbiana Center. Many years later, the people who carried out this shooting are finally being sentenced to prison.
In February, one of the shooters was sentenced to 35 years behind bars. A few weeks later, another co-defendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison. The shooting was a result of a feud between the young men, and one of the defendant’s attorneys suggested it might have been an act of revenge for an earlier shooting of a high school student. Whatever the case may be, the cycle of violence continues in South Carolina – and innocent people face serious danger at malls, restaurants, and other establishments.
Can a Negligent Security Lawyer Help After a Restaurant Shooting?
A negligent security lawyer in South Carolina may be able to help if you suffered injuries due to a restaurant shooting. In many of these cases, the violence is partially a result of inadequate or non-existent security measures. Restaurant owners should understand the threat of potential shootings, and they are expected to take reasonable steps to prevent this hazard. If they fail in this duty of care, they may become liable for future injuries. Contact Mickelsen & Dalton, LLC today to learn more.
