Random Violence Continues to Endanger the Public in South Carolina Businesses

Negligence3

Over the past few days, headlines have been dominated by stories of random violence across South Carolina businesses. These incidents have involved shootings, stabbings, and other forms of assault. In many cases, people were hurt without provocation or reason, often while browsing retail stores, filling up gas, or trying to order meals. What can you do if you were injured by a random act of violence? Can a South Carolina negligent security lawyer help you pursue compensation for your injuries?

Random Stabbing Reported at Walgreens

In January of 2025, numerous sources reported that a random stabbing had occurred at a Walgreens location in Columbia. Police say that a man had stabbed a person multiple times in the upper body for no apparent reason before a Good Samaritan intervened and stopped the attack. This heroic individual was able to hold down the assailant until police arrived – potentially saving the victim’s life.

But while the local community is celebrating this man’s timely intervention, an obvious question is being overlooked: Where were the security guards in all of this? Does Walgreens even employ security guards at this location? If so, why not?

Shooting at Moncks Corner Gas Station Raises More Questions Than Answers

At around the same time, a gas station shooting in Berkeley County made headlines that raised more questions than answers. Police say that they arrived at the gas station to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. They quickly discovered that this was the same man they had been searching for in connection to the sexual assault of a juvenile a day earlier.

It is not clear whether these two incidents were connected. Perhaps the gun violence at the gas station was merely a coincidence. Maybe the assailant knew what the suspect had done, and he decided to take the law into his own hands. Whatever the case may be, this is yet another example of gun violence at a South Carolina gas station.

Authorities Continue to Pursue Justice for Restaurant Shootings in South Carolina

Recent developments have been made in connection to two restaurant shootings in South Carolina. First, a second suspect was located and arrested for their alleged participation in a Bojangles drive-thru shooting back in late December. Second, the murder trial of a former Nacho Hippo employee neared its conclusion, with the defense resting its case. The defendant testified that she had opened fire on her former co-worker because he had threatened to kill her.

Can a South Carolina Negligent Security Lawyer Help?

A South Carolina negligent security lawyer may be able to help if you were injured by a preventable act of violence on business premises. With so many members of the public suffering fatal or catastrophic injuries, business owners have a clear legal duty to improve their security measures.
