Serious Assaults Keep Occurring at South Carolina Restaurants and Gas Stations

Negligence

With so many assaults occurring at restaurants throughout South Carolina, concerned citizens are asking serious questions. It seems like it’s no longer safe to simply grab a meal at a fast-food restaurant, and patrons run the very real risk of being shot, stabbed, or assaulted. Some are wondering why fast-food chains do not have more security, especially since these companies rake in billions of dollars each year. If you were injured during an assault at a South Carolina restaurant, you may have legal options.

Three Arrests After Shooting at Wendy’s

In October of 2024, multiple sources reported three arrests in connection with an earlier shooting at Wendy’s. The incident occurred in Columbia, and it left a victim with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. Two teens and one adult fired upon this individual after a verbal argument in the Wendy’s parking lot. The entire incident was caught on camera, and the defendants now face numerous charges.

Knife-Wielding Assailant Shot at Ruby Tuesday

Also in October, a deputy shot and a knife-wielding attacker at a Ruby Tuesday in Colleton County. The assailant allegedly tried to attack the deputy with his knife in the restaurant parking lot before he was fired upon. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting. Multiple witnesses saw the altercation, and the deputy claims he attempted to “talk the man down” before firing.

Man Robs Gas Station Cashier With Airsoft Gun

Another violent incident in October saw a gas station cashier robbed by a man wielding what turned out to be an airsoft gun. The suspect entered the premises with a ski mask and took $300 from the cash register before fleeing on a bicycle. However, he was soon caught by police and K9 units.

Police Arrest Two Defendants After Restaurant Parking Lot Shooting

October provided some closure for the family of a teen who had been fatally shot in Columbia. The incident occurred in the summer of 2024, and the victim was shot by a teen and one adult after a graduation party. Tragically, the victim was not the actual target – and he was caught in the crossfire between two “Roll-Out Wangz, Eggrollz and Thangz Bar and Restaurant.” Both defendants are facing murder charges.
