On June 1st, 2024, a candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives lost his life after striking the rear of a parked semi-truck on Highway 25. Police say that the truck was parked legally, but it had stopped on the median. The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.

Driver Struck by Tractor Trailer After Running Out of Gas 

On June 2nd, 2024, the Highway Patrol revealed that a driver had been killed on the I-20. The individual ran out of gas before exiting his vehicle. After he exited the vehicle, a passing tractor-trailer struck him and caused fatal injuries. No other details were reported, and it is not clear whether the trucker exhibited any negligence behind the wheel.

Grocery Store Employee Hit by Truck in Pickens 

On June 3rd, 2024, police reported that a grocery store employee had been struck and injured by a passing truck while trying to gather up shopping carts. The teen’s injuries were so severe that he required an air ambulance to the nearest hospital. Thankfully, the young man survived the accident – but his long-term health issues are not yet clear.

Car Gets Lodged Underneath Semi-Truck on  I-85 

On June 5th, 2023, officials reported that a car had become stuck underneath a semi-truck on I-85. The accident occurred near Spartanburg County, but the Highway Patrol did not reveal how it happened. In past crashes, cars have become lodged underneath semi-trucks after getting caught in their blind spots. There was no word on whether this crash had caused serious injuries.

Driver Dies After Wrong-Way Collision With Semi-Truck 

On June 6th, 2023, a driver died after driving the wrong way down I-77. The driver collided with a semi-truck near Columbia, and this collision was enough to cause fatal injuries. Once again, the Highway Patrol did not reveal much information about this accident, and they failed to disclose why the driver was driving in the wrong direction. In the past, these kinds of accidents have occurred due to confusing signage or construction zones.
