Teens Keep Dying in South Carolina Motorcycle Crashes

MotorcPass

One might argue that teen motorcycle deaths in South Carolina are nothing surprising. The stereotype of thrill-seeking young people is strong, but the real stories behind these fatal incidents are often much more complex. This is something that grieving parents understand all too well as they fight for justice after losing their children. A recent string of ATV and motorcycle crashes in South Carolina has caused numerous teen deaths. What can your family do after an incident like this?

Unanswered Questions Over 14-Year-Old’s Death in Dirt Bike Crash

In March of 2025, authorities in Warrenville announced that a 14-year-old had lost her life after a dirt bike crash. At face value, this incident seems as though it was caused by the driver of the dirt bike. The victim was riding as a passenger when the driver seemingly lost control and collided with a mailbox. This caused both occupants to fall into the road.

What happened next is unclear. An unspecified vehicle approached and struck either the bike or the 14-year-old victim. Whatever the case may be, the driver of this vehicle fled the scene. Police are now trying to determine whether the teen’s death was caused by the initial dirt bike crash or the collision with the passing vehicle.

Public Outcry After 18-Year-Old Dies in Motorcycle Crash

A few days earlier, another teen died after a motorcycle crash in Horry County. This also proved to be somewhat controversial, as the accident occurred in the midst of a police chase. Authorities say that the teen refused to pull over after an attempted traffic stop, prompting Highway Patrol to initiate a pursuit. The crash abruptly ended when the teen was fatally collided with a vehicle in an intersection on Highway 814.

The crash not only killed the teen, but it also hospitalized another victim and damaged two vehicles. In the wake of this fatality, some local community members argue that the South Carolina Highway Patrol should adopt safer policies. Authorities have not revealed why they initiated the traffic stop, but it could have been for a minor traffic violation. The flashing blue lights may have caused the teen to panic, and one might argue that enforcing a traffic ticket is not worth the death of such a young individual.
