Yet Another Waffle House Shooting in South Carolina

PI_Law

Waffle Houses have garnered a fearsome reputation in South Carolina. Journalists have described these establishments as “deadly,” with some even comparing them to active warzones. It is not difficult to see why. Type “waffle house shooting” into your Google search bar, and you will find dozens of recent incidents. The most recent waffle house shooting in South Carolina caused zero injuries – but this is not always the outcome. If a Waffle House attack has injured you or someone you love, consider filing a negligent security lawsuit in South Carolina.

Five Gunshots Reported at Myrtle Beach Waffle House

In June of 2024, witnesses reported hearing five gunshots at the Waffle House in Myrtle Beach. Police confirmed that the shooting occurred at around 5 AM on June 22nd, and that no one was injured.

Waffle House Attacks Are Becoming Extremely Common

If you want to file a negligent security lawsuit, you generally need to show that the establishment should have been aware of the threat posed by violent criminals. One way to accomplish this is to establish a “history of violence” at the location. This may be exceedingly easy for those injured at Waffle House locations, as these establishments are known for their violence.

The Myrtle Beach Waffle House has seen numerous violent acts over the years. In fact, another attack occurred just a few weeks before the shooting incident. In this attack, a belligerent customer jumped over the counter and attacked an employee with a knife.

In June of 2023, three people were injured in a Waffle House shooting in Dillon County. Police say that the attack occurred at 3 AM, and it led to “non-life-threatening” injuries. Some of the bullets were found 50 yards from the establishment, implying that the attackers were firing in a highly indiscriminate manner. Windows were also shattered. It is not clear what caused this violent incident.

In 2022, a man was arrested for attempted murder in connection with a Waffle House shooting in Rock Hill. Again, the incident reportedly occurred at 3 AM. In 2021, another Waffle House shooting in Bishopville left one individual dead and four others injured. Witnesses say that the shooting may have been revenge for a gas station shooting a few months prior. In 2020, three people were arrested in connection with a North Charleston Waffle House shooting that left one person injured.
